How to Get a Motorcycle License in the United States
Getting a License:

In the United States, riding a motorcycle requires a dedicated motorcycle license. Each state may have slightly different requirements and riding regulations, so it's recommended to research your local regulations.
Similar to the process for obtaining a car license, a motorcycle license requires applying to the DMV and taking a written test.
Getting a Motorcycle License in the United States:
- Apply for an M1 license at the DMV. Pass the written test first, then find a motorcycle and take the road test. Pass and you'll receive your license.
- Apply for an M1 license at the DMV. Ask the DMV about locally recognized motorcycle schools. Then, attend the school (Motorcycle schools in California cost $250, $150 for those under 22). Pass the school's written exam and road test (you don't need to prepare your own motorcycle). You'll receive a certificate of passing (a piece of paper). Then, take the written exam at the DMV, pass it, and get your license (you don't need to take the road test at the DMV).

When registering, bring your passport or other travel document used at the time of entry, a valid visa or residence permit with a stay of at least three months, and proof of accommodation registration issued by the public security bureau. Complete the motorcycle license application form at the motorcycle license counter of the city's transportation bureau, pay the fee, and then proceed to the medical examination center for a physical examination. Submit the application form, medical report, photo, and original and photocopied ID in a bag. This completes your registration and allows you to take the first part of the test. Note: After obtaining a formal driver's license, you can drive normally, but most states require that you wear a helmet within the first year after obtaining a formal M driver's license, and you can only ride during the day and cannot carry passengers.
